A four-wheel drive driver was burnt to death after a collision with a trailer on the PLUS highway near Jasin, with the vehicle catching fire

JASIN: A four-wheel drive driver was burnt to death after his vehicle was believed to have been hit by a trailer before catching fire early this morning.

The incident occurred at KM193.8 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) heading south.

The Melaka Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received an emergency call at 2.15 am.

Deputy Fire Superintendent II Mohd Hafidzatullah Rashid said the victim was trapped in the four-wheel drive, which was 80% burnt.

The trailer involved was 50% destroyed, but its driver managed to escape safely.

The body was handed over to police for further action.

The operation involved 20 personnel from the Ayer Keroh and Jasin Bestari Fire and Rescue Stations.
