
TAWAU: A lorry trailer crashed into a Telekom pole and keeled over into a nearby drain in Jalan Tanjung Batu, here, Monday.
According to Acting Tawau District Police Chief Supt Champin Piuh, the 35-year-old trailer driver was not injured in the accident.
Police were alerted about the accident at 1.25pm. Preliminary investigations revealed that the trailer was heading towards Tanjung Batu from Tawau town.
A 38-year-old driver of a four-wheel-drive who was behind the trailer claimed that the trailer had suddenly stopped as another vehicle exited the intersection at Jalan Aman.

Read more In an attempt to avoid a collision, the trailer driver reversed the vehicle. However, the manoeuvre caused the trailer to hit the four-wheel-drive that was behind it.
The impact led the trailer to go out of control, causing it to crash into the Telekom pole and ended up in the nearby drain.
Fortunately, the four-wheel-drive driver also escaped the accident unhurt.
