- Ahmed's brother, Armaan Ahmed, 27, a passenger in the vehicle, was cleared of murder but found guilty of manslaughter and causing grievous bodily harm, receiving a 17-year prison sentence.
- Abdullah's father stated his son had arrived in Sheffield from Yemen just two months before his death, seeking safety, and described the incident as having "destroyed the entire family."
