GUA MUSANG, July 5 — A lorry driver was killed after the 10-tonne lorry he was driving plunged into a 150-foot ravine near the Pos Blau-Lojing Bridge here yesterday.

Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station chief Asst Senior Fire Supt Muhammad Azrul Izzham Zulkifli said a firefighting team from his station reached the location, almost 98 kilometres away at 1.59 pm after receiving a call about the crash at 11.58am.

“The team found that a 10-tonne lorry had plunged into the ravine near an orchard. Preliminary information from the police revealed the man, in his 40s, was pinned under a tree,” he said in a statement yesterday, adding that firefighters had to remove the tree trunk to retrieve the man, who was pronounced dead on the scene.
