Driver killed in Beluran car-lorry crash

BELURAN: A Perodua Axia driver died when it collided with a lorry at Bukit Mengidam, Jalan Sapi Nangoh/Paitan, here, on Friday.

Beluran District Police Chief Supt Kasim Muda said preliminary investigations found the victim was on the way home in Kampung Bangau-Bangau from Paitan when it occurred at 5.26pm.

“Upon reaching a bend, the victim entered the opposite lane and collided with the lorry.

“The 37-year-old victim suffered severe head injuries and died at the scene,” he said.

The 35-year-old lorry driver, who did not suffer any injuries, was taken to the Beluran police station to assist in the investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
