Driver suffers seizure, crashes into four pedestrians in Cameron Highlands

A MAN believed to have suffered an epileptic seizure  while driving lost control of his Perodua Myvi and crashed into four pedestrians at Kilometre 68 of Jalan Kea Farm near Brinchang, Cameron Highlands, on Sunday.

Cameron Highlands District Police Chief Superintendent Azri Ramli said the incident occurred at around 12 noon, involving a 24-year-old man and three young girls aged 2, 8, and 10.

“All four victims sustained injuries and were treated at Hospital Sultanah Hajjah Kalsom. They have since been discharged,” he said in a statement.

Initial investigations revealed that the 22-year-old driver had been travelling from Brinchang towards Kea Farm when he lost control of his vehicle.

“The driver is believed to have suffered a seizure, causing the car to veer off the road onto the left shoulder, where it struck several pedestrians,” Azri said.

He added that the driver, who has a known medical history of epilepsy, tested negative for drugs in the initial urine screening and has no previous traffic offences.

“A traffic summons has been issued to the driver. We urge the public to refrain from circulating unverified information about the incident,” Azri added. - June 15, 2025
