Kota Kinabalu: A total of 12 agreements of collaboration, including drone system technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainable technology will be signed at the Sabah Chinese Economy Conference (SCEC) here on Wednesday (Aug 23).
The one-day conference is being organised through the combined effort of six local non-governmental organisations and expected to be officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor.
Organising Chairman Datuk Philip Yong, who is the chairman of Maritime Silk Route Research and Advancement Society Sabah, said the China companies being brought to SCEC are reputable players in their respective fields.
“One of the drone specialises in flood lighting and I see this potential in emergencies such as rescue at sea, wide unlit areas and a security tool,” he said.

“We are also bringing in a top-notch digital technology developer who is able to, with AI technology, digitalise the whole city and improve overall efficiency of amenity management, as well as spice up citizens’ lifestyle,” he said.
He said the aim behind SCEC is that Sabah entrepreneurs and the State’s desire for investments from China can best be achieved through a shared platform.
“The China market and potentials are huge. We want to be able to play a role in making some headway through connecting with the business people of China, as well as the community associations, cultural associations, and learning institutions, among others,” he said.
