UMNO Wanita Exco, Datuk Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid, has expressed deep concern over the ongoing internal discord within Barisan Nasional (BN), calling for a return to the original mission of political service — prioritizing the needs of the people rather than factional interests. Her remarks, which surfaced following escalating public party debates, reflect a growing discontent with leaders who appear more invested in defending personal positions than addressing national challenges.
She noted that time is slipping away for the coalition to prove its commitment to the people. As a relatively small part of the current government, she believes BN must urgently focus on regaining public trust — something that can only be done through unity, constructive discussion, and unwavering service. The repeated episodes of public infighting, she observed, have contributed to the erosion of confidence, especially among ordinary citizens already overwhelmed by economic uncertainty and rising living costs.
Nurulhidayah felt compelled to speak out after witnessing the open polemics about party membership disputes dominating public discourse. These internal battles, she suggested, are distracting from the real issues facing Malaysians — from unstable prices and the high cost of living to struggles in accessing quality education.
She emphasized that many citizens have grown weary of witnessing political theatrics play out in public. For most, party affiliations and power struggles matter less than the pressing question of who is actually working to ease their burdens. Constant threats to exit the party, coupled with combative public statements, do little more than deepen divisions and invite public disillusionment.
While she made it clear that her remarks were not meant to interfere with party leadership, she stressed that political engagement should serve the people, not become an arena for egos and rivalries. Any internal differences, in her view, should be resolved discreetly and maturely to avoid damaging the party’s image and credibility.
Nurulhidayah concluded by underscoring that real leadership lies in the ability to continue serving amid trials, criticism, and setbacks — not in dominating headlines or winning internal battles. For her, politics must return to its core purpose: working tirelessly for the people, especially in times of adversity.
