SANDAKAN: Two man were discharged and acquitted of trafficking in 550.5gm of methamphetamine by the High Court, here, Friday.

High Court Judge, Saiful Azian Mokhtar, discharged and acquitted Mohammad Absan, 37, and Jomel Abdul Jalal, 33, without calling for their defence after the prosecution failed to prove a prima facie case against them.

Mohammad Absan and Jomel were charged with drug trafficking in front of Agro Bazaar Jalan Sandakan-Beluran KM52, in the district on Oct 1 in 2020.

Both of them were charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952 (Act 234) and punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same Act, read with Section 34 of the Penal Code.

Deputy Public Prosecutor, Lim Sze Chuen, prosecuted the case.

Both Mohammad Absan and Jomel were represented by their lawyer, Hamida Ambo.

Meanwhile, both of their family members were also seen present.
