PENAMPANG: Two foreign women face the death penalty after being caught with various drugs during a raid at a condominium in Penampang on Friday (Jan 3).

District Police Chief DSP Sammy Newton said both suspects, in their 20s, tested positive for ketamine during a urine test.

Advertisement“Police seized five black plastic packages containing ecstasy powder (166.77g), a clear plastic package containing ecstasy pills (3.07g) and a clear plastic package containing ketamine (1.46g),” he said.

He added that the drugs were estimated to be worth RM3,200.

Read more The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries a penalty of death or life imprisonment, and, if not sentenced to death, a caning of not less than 12 strokes.

Newton added that the case is also being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1) of the same Act.

“We urge the public to avoid getting involved in drug abuse and to continue being the eyes and ears of the police in providing information to combat the drug menace,” he added.
