
Kota Kinabalu: The case of two men charged with trafficking 1,431.5gm of syabu will be mentioned on Oct 18 in the High Court.
Judge Alexander Siew How Wai on Friday set the date for further pre-trial case management (PTCM) for the case of pest control technician Mohd Nurfaizal Ruslin, 39, and fireworks seller Mohd Fareez Izwan Mohd Idros, 28.
The prosecution earlier informed the court that they had served several relevant documents for the purpose of the trial to both counsel for the accused and applied for further ptcm date, stating that they had received a representation letter from Nurfaizal’s counsel last week and that they would address the letter accordingly.
The prosecution also informed the court that Fareez’s counsel would be sending a representation letter as well.

They had on Aug 9, this year claimed trial to the charge under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952, which carries a punishment of either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes.
The duo were ordered to be further remanded as the charge against them has no provision for bail.

Nurfaizal was represented by counsel Nartiah F. Mirchelle Sambatan while Fareez was represented by counsel Azhier Farhan.
