
Kota Kinabalu: Five men were fined RM3,000 or eight months’ jail each for having 1,500 millilitres of liquid containing psychotropic type mitragynine.
Mohd Akmal waffic Sulaiman, Suraman Abdul Hamid, Ilfa Fala Kadir, Shafiq Sahidi and Mohd Fazri Yusuf, pleaded guilty separately before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie, to the charge against them.
They were found having the drug at 10.30pm on July 22 this year in front of a house in Kg Sri Pandan, Putatan.
The court heard that the five were arrested by the police at the said area and found the liquid in a transparent plastic bottle suspected containing the drug.

Meanwhile, an 18-year-old teenager was fined RM1,000 or a month’s jail for having four pieces of illegal lottery numbers.
The teenager admitted to having the illegal lottery numbers at 3.45pm on June 18 this year in front of a coffee shop in Donggongon town, Penampang.
During the proceedings, when asked by the court whether he wanted the report from the Welfare Department, he said he did want and wanted to pay for the fine.
He informed the court there was a friend willing to pay for the fine.
The court ordered the cash money of RM90 that was seized during the arrest, to be forfeited to the Government through prosecution.
