Jail officials today recovered illegal drugs from an inmate inside the Faridkot Central Jail during a sudden search operation. Following the recovery, a criminal case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act.
Jail staff conducted a surprise search operation in the prison barracks to check illegal items.
During the checking, security personnel found a stash of intoxicating substances hidden by one of the prisoners.
The jail administration immediately informed the local police. A formal case has been filed against the inmate, and a fresh investigation has been started to find out how the drugs were smuggled into the prison.
