
Kota Kinabalu: A 42-year-old Filipino, charged with having 33.50gm of drugs, will go trial on July 1-2.
Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus set the date for Arkim Siroma who maintained his plea of not guilty during his pre-trial case management on Monday.
During the proceedings, the prosecution served trial’s documents to Arkim, accused of having the drug at 11.20am on Oct 16, 2024 at a hill in Kg Lok Buno in Sepanggar, Manggatal.
The offence under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act carries a jail term of between five years and life imprisonment, and whipping at least 10 strokes, on conviction.
The court also fixed final pre-trial case management on May 14 this year to serve the witness statements.
The prosecution informed the court that three witnesses would be called during the hearing.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Shafeerah Mad Iskim appeared for the prosecution while Arkim was not represented.
