Drunk 28yo M’sian Driver Runs Red Light, Collides with 11yo Student Crossing the Road in Port Dickson

In recent news, a serious road accident occurred in Port Dickson. A driver collided with a primary school student as she attempted to cross the road on her way to school.

According to a statement by the Port Dickson District Police, the driver ran a red light, leading to the collision with the Port Dickson National School student.

He ran a red light and hit the 11-year-old student

The incident took place when the driver of the car, a 28-year-old male, was travelling from Port Dickson town towards Kemang Bay.

“On October 24 at approximately 7:10 AM, a road accident occurred involving a car driver and an 11-year-old student from Port Dickson National School who was crossing the road.”

While the student was crossing the road on their way to school, the driver ran a red light, causing a collision that left the student with a broken right toe and additional injuries to her leg and hand.

His alcohol test revealed levels that exceeded the legal limit

Following the accident, the police arrested the driver and did an alcohol test, which showed his blood alcohol level was 203mg/100ml, way over the legal limit of 153mg/100ml.

He’s now being held in custody from October 24 to 27, and they’re investigating the case under Section 44(1A) of the Road Transport Act 1987. If found guilty, he could get 7 to 10 years in prison and a fine between RM30,000 and RM50,000.
