A man in his 20s has been remanded for four days for allegedly driving under the influence, causing a motorcyclist’s death in Klang.

KLANG: A man in his 20s has been remanded for four days to assist in a fatal accident investigation. The suspect is being probed for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Magistrate Siti Zubaidah Mahat issued the remand order. The case is being investigated under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The incident occurred at about 11.40 am yesterday on Jalan Raya Barat. Klang Selatan Police chief ACP Lim Jit Huey said a Honda City, driven dangerously at high speed towards Klang town, was involved.

“Upon reaching the location, the driver is believed to have overtaken several vehicles before entering the opposite lane and colliding with the victim’s motorcycle,” he said.

The impact flung the motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, onto the roof of a Perodua Myvi. He died at the scene.

“The suspect tested positive for alcohol and drugs,” ACP Lim Jit Huey confirmed.
