MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) partnered with a social media platform to promote responsible e-commerce by educating online sellers, the DTI announced on Friday.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between DTI and TikTok Shop under TikTok Philippines on Jan. 26, 2026 in which both would provide webinars, short educational videos, and learning modules to guide online sellers on their obligations and responsibilities in internet transactions as provided under Republic Act 11967 or the Internet Transactions Act of 2023.

RA 11967 also requires online consumers to exercise ordinary diligence when doing transactions online and defines remedies in cases of defects, malfunctions or loss of the goods purchased.

The partnership seeks to advance a "resilient and future-ready digital environment for online sellers," the DTI said.
