The University of Delhi (DU) has entered a crucial phase of its admission cycle for the 2026-27 academic session, with postgraduate admissions moving into the seat-allocation stage while lakhs of undergraduate aspirants await the declaration of CUET-UG results before the university launches the next phase of admissions.
According to the admission schedule released by the university, the first round of PG seat allocation will be announced on June 15, with candidates required to accept allotted seats by June 17. Colleges and departments will verify applications until June 18, while the last date for fee payment in the first round is June 19. The second round of allocations is scheduled to begin on June 22. Admissions are being conducted on the basis of CUET-PG 2026 scores.
The university is offering admissions to 82 postgraduate programmes this year. DU has also introduced new postgraduate options under the National Education Policy (NEP) framework, including one year and two year master’s programmes, aimed at providing greater academic flexibility to students.
Meanwhile, attention is shifting to undergraduate admissions, where the university is expected to open the next stages of the CSAS-UG process after the National Testing Agency announces CUET-UG 2026 results. While DU has released its admission bulletin, the detailed UG seat-allocation schedule is yet to be announced. Reports suggest the admission calendar could witness some delay this year due to the timing of CUET results.
The stakes are particularly high for undergraduate admissions, which attract lakhs of applicants from across the country every year. Courses such as B.Com (Hons.), Economics (Hons.), Political Science (Hons.), English (Hons.) and Psychology (Hons.) traditionally witness intense competition, especially in colleges located in North Campus and other leading institutions.
The 2026 admission cycle is also significant as it marks another year of Delhi University’s transition to a fully CUET based admission framework. Introduced to standardise admissions across central universities, the system has replaced Class 12 marks as the primary basis for admission and shifted the focus to performance in the national entrance examination.
University officials have advised students to regularly monitor the admission portal for updates on seat allocation, preference filling, counselling rounds and fee payment deadlines.
The university has also notified a revised fee refund policy under which students withdrawing admissions within the prescribed period will remain eligible for refunds, while withdrawals beyond specified timelines may not qualify for reimbursement.
With postgraduate admissions now moving towards allotment rounds and undergraduate admissions expected to gather pace after CUET results, the coming weeks will determine the academic future of thousands of students seeking a seat in one of India’s most prestigious public universities.
