Dubai flights halted ‘indefinitely’ as Iran strikes force airspace closures

  • Dubai’s airport operator said flights have been halted indefinitely at Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest airport for international flights, after US and Israel attacked Iran.
  • "Due to multiple regional airspace closures, Emirates has temporarily suspended operations to and from Dubai," the Dubai-based carrier said, while flydubai also suspended operations.
  • The smaller Al Maktoum International airport also halted flights and urged passengers not to travel as travel across the Middle East and beyond experienced significant disruptions following the attack Saturday.
  • Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and southern Syria closed their airspace due to the escalating situation. Numerous flights en route to cities like Tel Aviv and Dubai were diverted or forced to return to their departure points.
  • Major airlines have cancelled flights to and from parts of the region, with disruptions expected to last through Sunday or early next week.
