
SANDAKAN: Two male suspects in a robbery case that happened at a Taman Mawar self-service laundromat last Monday, were arrested less than 24 hours after the victim made a police report.
Sandakan district police chief, ACP Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek said during the robbery, a mobile phone belonging to a 16-year-old female student was grabbed by the two suspects riding a motorcycle.
Following that, a 71-second video clip of the robbery was viralled on social media.
“The two suspects were later arrested by the IPD Sandakan Criminal Investigation Division at 10.30pm, in the slums of Kampung Sundang Laut.
“The suspects are a 24-year-old local and the other a 25-year-old foreigner,” he said in a statement to the media on Thursday.
When the arrest was made, a motorcycle believed to be used during the crime was also confiscated.
The suspect has been remanded for investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code.
