SEMPORNA: Police arrested two locals and seized more than 100 grammes of suspected syabu during an operation in Jalan Causeway here on Monday.
District Police Chief Supt Tan Hiap Wah said officers from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division conducted surveillance before stopping and inspecting two suspicious men inside a vehicle.
He said both suspects attempted to flee but were swiftly detained by police.
“During the inspection of the vehicle, we found two translucent plastic packets containing substances believed to be syabu, weighing 100.20 grammes.
The drugs were hidden inside a disposable diaper placed in a paper bag. The seizure is estimated to be worth about RM10,000,” he said.
Both suspects were taken to the Narcotics office for further investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Tan also advised the public to stay away from drug-related activities, saying they destroy lives and negatively impact families and communities.
He urged the public to continue providing information to assist police in curbing drug abuse in the district.
