KENINGAU: The sales value of Durian Tourism packages in 2023 reached RM1.6 million, said Tourism, Arts, and Culture Deputy Minister Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan.
Khairul said this significant increase as a positive indicator that durian agro-tourism is successfully attracting international tourists to Malaysia, particularly from China, Brunei, and Hong Kong.
“Durian agro-tourism also brings satisfaction to local durian enthusiasts,” he told Daily Express after the opening ceremony of the Sabah Durian Tourism Bazaar 2024 at The Durian Valley in Keningau, recently.
He said due to the encouraging sales and response, the 2024 Durian Tourism Package has been expanded to include 12 states in Malaysia, up from seven states in 2023 and three states in 2022.
