MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte appeared at a loss when asked about her comment on the controversial Pax Silica initiative that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. mentioned in his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday.
Duterte did not attend Marcos’ SONA, calling it a “waste of time.”
Mobbed by the media at The Hague, Netherlands where she visited her father, the former president Rodrigo Duterte, at the International Criminal Court (ICC) detention center, the vice president, in a video posted by her office on social media, did not immediately react to the Pax Silica question.
“Ano (What)? Fox Sili – Fox Silic? Wala (No). I cannot comment on that,” said Duterte.
The video has since gone viral.
Marcos highlighted Pax Silica in his SONA as a key initiative to position the Philippines as a regional hub for semiconductors, artificial intelligence and other advanced industries.
