VICE President Sara Duterte called on Filipinos to pray for a society driven by truth, justice and sincere compassion as the country observes Holy Week.
In a video message, Duterte stressed that Holy Week is a time to reflect on the “great sacrifice of the Lord — an offering of self that reminds us that the true meaning of life is found in serving others.” ”The silence of these days allows for a sincere examination of our aspirations — for ourselves, for our families and for our nation,” Duterte said.
She also recognized the sacrifices of fellow citizens, especially overseas Filipino workers in the Middle East amid the ongoing war between Iran, Israel and the United States.
”Amid the conflict, we pray for their safety. They are living examples of sacrifice, and we ask for peace in the places where they are stationed,” Duterte said.
She urged Filipinos to use the lessons of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice as an “inspiration for us to unite for a strong and prosperous Philippines.” Meanwhile, House Speaker Faustino Dy III called on the public to use Holy Week as a “time for reflection, renewal and recommitment to the values that strengthen families and the nation.”
”This Holy Week, I invite all Filipinos to pause and reflect on the meaning of these days. Holy Week reminds us of sacrifice, forgiveness and hope — virtues that guide us as people and as a nation,” Dy said.
He urged Filipinos to turn reflection into action by deepening their faith, strengthening family ties and cultivating a deeper and more genuine concern for others.
