Everton boss Sean Dyche defended the players after defeat at home to Wolves.
Sasa Kalajdzic scored the only goal of the day.
"We were miles off it last week, but back on it today," Dyche told evertontv. "A good reaction with a good performance but we have to score goals.
"I can't keep going on saying we have played well again, we have, we've made quality chances today but you have to take them and take responsibility for that.
"Their keeper ended up man of the match, it was the same against Fulham. We give them the chance to save things they shouldn't be saving. That's what we have got to change because a lot was right today.
Dyche added: "We created enough to win the game, but we didn't win the game so it is total responsibility on myself, the staff and the players to correct that because performance levels other than last week have been good."
