Remember the Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact? It has been shrunk down to the size of a palm and given a new name: HushJet Mini Cool. Basically, the British company took its learnings from the air purifier’s design and applied it to its first-ever portable handheld fan, which features the same “entrainment nozzle” aimed to improve airflow and noise characteristics.
Dyson HushJet Mini Cool Fan

The HushJet Mini Cool’s fan is powered by a 65,000RPM brushless DC motor capable of generating airflow up to 25m/s, or to put it in another perspective, at a speed of 90km/h. (To give you some idea, try putting your hand out of car windows when it’s moving at said speeds.) It comes with five airflow settings along with a Boost mode, with noise levels as low as 52dBA at speed 1, 68dbA at speed 5, and 72.5dbA under Boost mode.
While the noise figures do seem pretty high by portable fan standards, Dyson noted that frequency tuning is also important – the star-shaped HushJet nozzle is claimed to reduce higher-frequency noises and minimizes motor-related sound, so your ears won’t get too unpleasant when the fan and motor are kicking into high gear.
All that hardware is packed into a cylindrical-shaped device that weighs 212g, and measures exactly 38mm in diameter, which is a number that Dyson is apparently obsessed with – its Supersonic r hairdryer and PencilVac also uses this exact size, perhaps for engineering reasons. Besides that, the nozzle can be adjusted to direct airflow at a specific angle depending on how it is placed (worn, free-standing, or handheld). It is also equipped with a 5,000mAh battery that supports up to six hours of operation, with charging through USB-C that takes up to 3 hours at most.
While Dyson hasn’t specified anything regarding availability and pricing, it says the HushJet Mini Cool Fan will be available in three two-tone color options: Ink/Cobalt, Carnelian/Sky, and Stone/Blush. Each unit will come with a Neck Dock, charging stand, USB-C charging cable and a travel pouch as standard, with add-ons including universal mount and grip clip to be offered.
Pokdepinion: I’d like to try one of these.
