E-filing deadline for year of assessment 2025 extended to 15 May

TAXPAYERS now have until May 15, 2026, to submit the Tax Return Form (BN) for the Year of Assessment 2025, following a 15-day extension granted by the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN).

The extension follows the mandatory e-Filing system, giving taxpayers more time to submit accurate and complete returns.

The deadline for individuals and non-individuals, including organisations, estates and Hindu joint families not carrying on a business, was previously set for April 30.

"Taxpayers are advised to make full use of this extension by filing early to ensure a smooth process and avoid system congestion near the deadline," LHDN said in a statement reported by Bernama.

It also stressed that compliance with the stipulated deadline is essential to avoid action under the Income Tax Act 1967, including penalties for late submission or failure to file.

The e-Filing service can be accessed directly at https://mytax.hasil.gov.my or via the official LHDN portal at https://www.hasil.gov.my

As guidance, taxpayers are encouraged to refer to the relevant BN explanatory notes if clarification is needed before submission.

"They are also advised to review all tax-related documents and information in advance, including income statements, receipts and supporting records.

"Tax returns should be completed carefully to ensure submissions are accurate and complete,” read the statement. – April 29, 2026
