Former FC Krasnodar coach Igor Shalimov has urged CSKA Moscow striker Fedor Chalov to resist a January move to England.
Crystal Palace failed over the summer to clinch Chalov's signing, but are expected to try again in the New Year.
Shalimov told Sport-Express: "Chalov is not ready for the English championship yet.
"Look at the attackers who play there. They will say to him: run there, turn around here ... You need to be able to play with your back to the goal.
"He does not know how. And will not score. If he plays another football, then he will stop scoring. And nobody needs such attackers."
