Roma boss Paulo Fonseca was delighted with their performance for victory over Lecce.
Edin Dzeko's header from a Henrikh Mkhitaryan cross proved the only goal of the game.
Fonseca later remarked, "It is always important to win this type of match. We put in a good performance, controlled the game and created many scoring opportunities.
We missed the penalty too, but I think the lads worked very hard. We know that our approach means we'll always allow chances to the opposition, but today we could've won by five or six goals.
Chris Smalling and Gianluca Mancini played well, it was important to keep a clean sheet. It don't think the system is as important as the dynamics of the team and the movements. I like the way this team moved today."
