Tuaran: Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) in collaboration with Tuaran Parliament’s People Service Centre has provided early study assistance to asnaf (underprivileged) and B40 students to enable them continue their studies at the Higher Education Institution (IPT) level.
The assistance is to provide financial aid to eligible recipients to start the semester or to provide study kits needed to continue their studies.
The YBR Early Study Assistance was handed over by Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau to the recipients in a ceremony held at the Tuaran Parliament People’s Service Centre (Kiulu Office).
Also present were YBR Chairman Datuk Philip Benedict Lasimbang, YBR General Manager Syaiful Rizal Abdul Ghani and YBR Corporate Communications Department Manager Mohamad Ghazali Zainal Abidin.

“I really hope that this effort can be continued because there are still many who need help in education and it can indirectly reduce the financial burden of the rural families,” he said.
At the same event, Philip said that the cash assistance given was an initiative to reduce the burden of the increasing cost of living as a result of the economic recession, especially for those living in rural areas.
“To continue efforts in providing students and young people with access to quality education, this initiative is expected to help more students out there to continue their studies to the highest level of education and can breathe new life into the recipients in their pursue for success in education,” he said.
He said Tuaran is one of the nine poorest districts in Malaysia and it is hoped that with this assistance, the financial burden of parents or individuals will be eased to provide learning paraphernalia for those making preparation for IPT.
Last year, a total of 3,580 students across the country received benefits through YBR’s early study assistance with a total allocation of RM2.29 million.
