EARLY voting for the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election and the Lamag state by-election commenced today, involving 196 police personnel and their spouses.

The early voting process, conducted at a single polling stream, began at 8am and is scheduled to continue until 5pm.

The Kinabatangan parliamentary contest is shaping up as a three-cornered fight between Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar of Barisan Nasional, Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman representing Warisan, and independent candidate Goldam Hamid.

In contrast, the Lamag state seat is being contested in a straight fight between Barisan Nasional’s Mohd Ismail Ayob and Warisan’s Mazliwati Abdul Malek.

Both by-elections were called following the death of the incumbent, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, who passed away on 5 December last year at the age of 66. - January 20, 2026
