Early voting opens at two centres for Ayer Kuning by-election

TWO early voting centres for the Ayer Kuning state by-election opened simultaneously at 8am today, allowing police personnel and their spouses to cast their ballots ahead of polling day.

The centres are located at the Senior Officers' Recreation Hall, Battalion 3 of the General Operations Force (PGA) in Bidor, and the Anggerik Hall within the Housing Complex of the Tapah District Police Headquarters (IPD).

Early voting is taking place across three polling streams and involves a total of 500 police personnel and their spouses.

The early voting centre at Battalion 3 PGA will remain open until 5pm, while the centre at IPD Tapah is scheduled to close at 12 noon.

The Ayer Kuning by-election sees a three-cornered contest between Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Dr Mohamad Yusri Bakir, Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Abd Muhaimin Malek, and Bawani KS representing Parti Sosialis Malaysia.

The by-election was called following the death of the incumbent assemblyman, Ishsam Shahruddin, 58, on 22 February. - April 22, 2025
