TAWAU: The Ministry of Home Affairs should act to ease citizenship problems in rural areas, said Sri Tanjong Assemblyman Justin Wong.
He said there are still many rural villagers and palm oil estate workers who do not know they need to register their marriages to apply for birth certificates for their children that determine their children’s citizenship.
The Warisan rep said he met with Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail last week and expressed his concerns about the issue and presented his ideas for a solution.
