An EastEnders icon has ruled out returning to the show seven years after her character’s departure.
Tamzin Outhwaite, who played Mel Owen in the BBC show for over two decades, left the soap in 2019 when her character was run over by a lorry.
After being asked by Lorraine Kelly whether she would ever return to Albert Square, the actor ruled out a comeback. “We saw the body in the bag and the zip go over her face so I don’t think that’s a possibility,” she said on Thursday (4 June).
However, she did say she has considered returning in the form of Mel’s “evil twin”.
“Or even just a nicer twin, or a mentally stable twin would be good!’ she laughed.
