  • Democratic Republic of Congo politician Marie-Celestin Karondwa has been beaten to death in Butembo after promoting Ebola prevention measures during a radio interview.

  • Official government figures reveal the current Ebola outbreak in the DRC has infected at least 8,067 people and killed 3,901 since May.
  • The World Health Organisation has warned of a severe shortage of healthcare workers as the outbreak risks outpacing the 2014 West Africa epidemic.
