Following his visit to the United Nations in New York, Germany's Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul will travel on to Mexico on Thursday for a two-day visit.
After a meeting with Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco, Wadephul intends to co-chair a session of the German-Mexican Binational Commission with him.
Key bilateral issues are to be discussed, with economic cooperation a key focus. Mexico is an important partner for the German government in Latin America, including in its commitment to the international order.
At the start of his visit, the German foreign minister plans to visit the Templo Mayor (Main Temple) in the historic centre of Mexico City, as well as a museum connected to the temple and an archaeological site.
The temple was once the most important religious site of Tenochtitlán (1325–1521), the capital of the Aztec Empire.
On Friday, Wadephul’s schedule includes business meetings and a visit to the Goethe Institute German cultural centre in Mexico City.
