
Kota Kinabalu: The Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS) signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Petronas and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) respectively here Tuesday, in conjunction with the launch of the Sabah Energy Roadmap and Master Plan 2040 (SE-RAMP 2040).
Witnessed by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, the first MoU is a strategic collaboration in the form of exploration and study and research of new energy technology with Petronas (Project Delivery and Technology Division) by utilising the capabilities of the facilities at the Petronas Research Centre in related fields.
The second MoU is cooperation in the development of human capital in competency in the energy sector and cooperation in the form of energy studies and research as well as the development of technical and safety guidelines with UMS Investment Holdings Sdn Bhd (a UMS subsidiary company).
ECoS Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ir Abdul Nasser Abdul Wahid said ECoS also congratulated UMS for having succeeded in becoming the first training centre in Sabah for the Gas Competency programme commissioned by ECoS last June.

Earlier, the Chief Minister launched SE-RAMP 2040 to address the State’s near-term needs while building future long-term resilience of the energy industry.
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister II cum Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Phoong Jin Zhe, Assistant Ministers to the Chief Minister Datuk Abidin Madingkir and Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, and State Secretary Datuk Seri Sr. Safar Untong.
