The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday conducted search at the residence of chartered accountant Ankur Garg in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation linked to Hampton Sky Realty Ltd.

Sources said ED teams reached the premises early in the morning and the search continued for several hours. The action forms part of coordinated raids conducted at six locations across Ludhiana and Jalandhar in Punjab, Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, and the Delhi-Noida region under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The searches covered residential and business premises of persons and entities allegedly connected with the case under investigation.

Ankur Garg is not new to controversy. In November 2020, he was arrested by the Central GST Commissionerate, Ludhiana, in connection with an alleged bogus billing racket involving transactions worth around Rs 252 crore.

Sources familiar with local business circles said Garg is considered a close associate of businessman Hemant Sood and former Punjab minister Sanjeev Arora. However, officials have not disclosed the specific allegations against any individual in the present case.
