The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted fresh raids in Ludhiana on Wednesday at the premises of Heera Sachdeva, a yarn merchant based off RK Road, who is allegedly an associate of Sanjeev Arora.
The ED teams were engaged in the investigation until the evening. The agency is currently scrutinising his documents while gathering information on the businessman’s bank accounts and properties. Sources claim the case is linked to a betting app scam.
According to sources, Heera Sachdeva may also be implicated in the betting app scam, which is why he has come under ED’s scanner.
Earlier, in connection with a controversial betting app case, ED had conducted raids on the premises of Jalandhar- and Ludhiana-based businessmen. Sources said links connecting businessmen allegedly involved in the betting app scam to Heera Sachdeva have now surfaced. Evidence of bank transactions between them has also reportedly emerged. ED launched the raids after these links came to light.
Speculation is rife that several other individuals may also be implicated in the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, sources said ED has intensified its probe into the betting app case. The names of several prominent city figures are reportedly surfacing during the inquiry. The raids conducted on Wednesday are also said to be linked to the betting app scam. However, ED has not yet officially confirmed this.
