Kota Kinabalu: Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed that eight leaders from Sabah will be contesting for a post in the party’s supreme council scheduled on March 11 and 18.

He identified the leaders as State Liaison Chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan, Datuk Rosinah Abdul Rashidin Shirlin, Kimanis MP Datuk Mohammad Al-Amin, Datuk Hasnol Ayub, Julie Sabran, Sharif Musa Sharif Mabul and Ghazalie Ansing.

“Umno Sabah has 25 divisions and after the closing of nominations last month, eight divisions saw their top post uncontested.”

Ahmad Zahid also said Umno Lahad Datu’s top post would see a six-cornered fight.

The uncontested divisions are Sepangar, Penampang, Papar, Kimanis, Tenom, Sandakan, Libaran and Kinabatangan.

Ahmad Zahid, who is Deputy Prime Minister, reminded candidates to abide by all the party’s regulations set by the Election Committee to avoid any incidents that many cause the candidates to lose eligibility.

“Agents and managers of candidates have to obey and understand the rules set by the party,” he said.
