
RANAU: Eight people were injured after the express bus they were travelling in skidded and crashed near Kg Luanti Baru, here, Saturday.
District Fire and Rescue Department Chief Ridwan Mohd Taib said there were 23 passengers on the ill-fated tour bus when the incident happened at 2pm.
AdvertisementHe said the victims comprised men and women aged between 47 and 68.
“We received a distress call from other road users at 2.14pm through the station line and seven personnel led by senior operations commander Becket Gumat rushed to the scene along with an FRT and an EMRS vehicle.

Read more “Upon reaching the location located 18km from the Ranau Fire Station, we found an accident involving a tour bus which overturned on the shoulder of the road.
“There were eight injured victims out of 23 passengers on the bus, including the driver and assistant driver.

Ridwan added that all the injured victims were sent to the Ranau Hospital using two ambulances for further treatment and after ensuring that there was no further danger, the operation ended at 3.15pm.

“Always be attentive while on the road and give good cooperation to other road users.
“Drive slowly especially when travelling on uneven roads,” he said, adding that traffic volumes are high, especially during the festive season.
