Eight new Justices of the Peace take oath

Kota Kinabalu: Eight newly-appointed Justices of the Peace (JPs) were sworn in before Justice Christopher Chin Soo Yin at the Kota Kinabalu High Court, here, Thursday.

They were Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan , Sabah Law Society (SLS) President Mohamad Nazim Maduarin, Home Affairs and Research Secretary Datuk Awang Shahminan Shaari, State Attorney-General Datuk Nor Asiah Mohd Yusoff, former Balung assemblyman Datuk Osman Bin Jamal @Jamar, Attorney Suzeianah Binti Saulkmen, Datuk Chee Chin Nye and Teong Bert Deen.

Their appointments were in conjunction with the 70th official birthday of Sabah Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.

Also present were Majlis Jaksa-Jaksa Pendamai Sabah (Majaps) President Datuk Seri Clarence Malakun, Deputy President Datuk Lawrence Thien and Assistant Secretary Datuk Katherine Lee.

The newly-appointed JPs pledged to fulfil their obligations and show full loyalty to the State and the country.

The role of JPs is to promote and protect the rights of individuals and provide justice to the community they serve.
