Eintracht Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner was the subject of serious interest from Chelsea over the summer.
BILD says Chelsea made an approach for Glasner in August, but were rebuffed.
Glasner wanted to remain in charge at Eintracht Frankfurt for this season's Champions League campaign.
He had guided the club to the Europa League title last term.
Instead, Chelsea stuck with manager Thomas Tuchel before he was eventually sacked and replaced by Graham Potter in September.
