Masjid Putra Gallery showcases an architectural blend, drawing inspiration from the the Safavid period of Persian state (a pivotal chapter in the annals of Middle Eastern history), Moorish styles, and traditional Malay cengal woodwork found on its doors and panels. Positioned adjacent to Perdana Putra (the Malaysian Prime Minister's office), the complex is located central to the administrative center and civic life of Putrajaya. (www.islam.gov.my>masjidputra<)
Majid Putra is known globally as the “Pink Mosque" in Malaysia due to its rose-tinted granite exterior, it seamlessly integrates Malay, Middle Eastern & Persian designs. The 116 meters minaret is one of the tallest in the region, with five tiers that represent the Five Pillars of Islam. Along with the primary prayer hall, the mosque encompasses a grand courtyard (Sahn), the gallery and learning facilities that can host up to 15,000 worshippers simultaneously.

The grand opening of Putra Mosque Gallery was officially graced by Dato' Dr. Sirajuddin bin Suhaimee, the Director General of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) on 16 June, 2026. Whereas, Putra Mosque officially opened on 30 August 2000, was inspired by former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. JAKIM established the gallery to empower the mosque's broader function beyond worship. It acts as dedicated educational, da'wah (Islamic outreach), and tourism institution. The specialized gallery space highlights the history, growth, and societal contributions of the mosque, providing multi-language information on Islamic heritage knowledge to international & local visitors. Last Monday, during our walkabouts at Selera Putra food hall at the underground retail souvenir and dining areas known as the Souq Putrajaya, located right underneath the mosque complex, my wife, Zarina & I decided to visit the exhibits at Masjid Putra Gallery. It is the newest attraction in Putrajaya that welcome all visitors regardless of religion or nationality. The visiting hours is from 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM from Saturday to Thursday & entirely free to enter.
