Healthcare expenses continue to be a major concern for many Malaysians, particularly those within the B40 income group who may struggle with rising living costs and access to timely medical care. In response to this challenge, the Malaysian government introduced Skim Perubatan MADANI , a healthcare initiative designed to provide eligible Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients with free acute medical treatment at participating private general practitioner (GP) clinics.
The initiative, implemented by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) and managed by ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn. Bhd., aims to improve access to primary healthcare services while easing congestion at government hospitals and clinics. Through strategic collaboration between the public and private healthcare sectors, patients can now receive faster treatment for common illnesses and minor medical conditions without the need for long waiting hours at public healthcare facilities.
Approximately 700,000 households are expected to benefit from the initiative, allowing eligible recipients to obtain essential treatment for minor illnesses and non-emergency conditions at participating GP clinics free of charge. The program is designed to help reduce the financial burden of healthcare expenses while improving the overall well-being and quality of life of lower-income communities.
This initiative also reflects the government’s broader commitment to strengthening Malaysia’s healthcare accessibility and improving the quality of life for lower-income communities through more inclusive and efficient healthcare support systems.
✅ Who Can Apply?
Eligibility is automatic for STR recipients under these categories:
• Family households — up to RM250
• Senior citizens without spouse — up to RM125
• Singles & OKU singles — up to RM75
✅ What Treatments Are Covered?
You can receive treatment for common acute illnesses and minor injuries such as:
• Fever, cough & flu
• Diarrhoea & vomiting
• Headaches
• Sprains & muscle pain
• Minor wounds & injuries
❌ What’s Not Covered?
The scheme does NOT cover:
• Vaccinations
• Pregnancy check-ups
• Chronic disease follow-ups
• Health screenings
• Supplements without consultation
