My50 Public Transport Pass
The MyKad is also used as the access medium for the My50 travel pass. For RM50 per month, eligible users can enjoy unlimited travel on Prasarana-operated services within the Klang Valley, including the LRT, MRT, Monorail, BRT, and bus networks. This initiative supports affordable and integrated public transportation.
Government Financial Assistance Access
MyKad plays a role in facilitating access to government assistance programmes such as Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA). While funds are not physically stored on the card, eligibility is linked to the individual’s identity number within a central database. Beneficiaries can redeem approved assistance at participating retailers using a MyKad card reader system.

The government has also introduced mechanisms such as BUDI95, where MyKad is used to verify eligibility for targeted fuel subsidies. To ensure data protection and prevent fraud, MyKad is equipped with multiple security features. These include laser-engraved identifiers, commonly referred to as ghost images, and a secure chip that can only be accessed using authorized readers approved by JPN.
