  • Speaking at an Asia Society event in New York, Mr Jaishankar stated that the Global South is under severe financial, energy, food, and fertiliser strain.
  • Global oil prices have surged, with Brent crude set for a monthly gain of around 14 per cent after US president Donald Trump denied easing sanctions on Iran.

  • Experts from the Climate Impact Lab warn that this year's record-breaking El Nino could cause nearly 500,000 heat-related deaths by February, predominantly in the Global South.
