An 80-year-old woman has been arrested following a fatal collision in Ipoh that claimed the life of a 33-year-old police corporal.

IPOH: An 80-year-old woman has been arrested following a fatal road accident that killed a policeman in Ipoh.

The driver of a Perodua Myvi was detained at the scene after the collision on Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah.

Ipoh district police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the suspect, a retiree, was unhurt in the incident.

“Urine screening tests conducted on the suspect returned negative results,” he said on Thursday.

Corporal Mohd Hafizan Othman, 33, died from severe head injuries at the scene.

He was riding a motorcycle that collided with the car.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
