Kota Kinabalu: A 79-year-old man lost his life after falling from the Ujong Pasir Jetty in Labuan on Sunday.

Labuan Police Chief Supt Mohd Hamizi Halim in a statement, here, Monday, said police received information about the incident at 7.30pm on Sunday.

Initial police investigation found that witnesses saw the man walking towards the jetty before falling into the sea.

Medical officials confirmed the man’s death at the scene. A subsequent autopsy on Monday determined drowning as the cause of death.

In a separate case, police were alerted to a case in Kg Sungai Lada in Labuan at 10.30pm on Saturday. The house where the 47-year-old was found.

The deceased, 47-year-old Jeffry Julius, was discovered hanging behind a bedroom door in his home.

His wife discovered when attempting to enter the room.

The cause of the incident could not be determined.

Prior to the incident, the man was said to have requested his wife and five children to leave the house, but his wife and two children refused to leave.

An autopsy confirmed hanging as the cause of death, and the case has been classified as sudden death.
