
A 71-year-old suspect is remanded for a week as police investigate a shooting that killed three people at a Kota Tinggi restaurant
KOTA TINGGI: A 71-year-old man has been remanded for seven days in connection with a fatal shooting that left three people dead.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Nurkhalida Farhana Abu Bakar at the Kota Tinggi Magistrate’s Court to facilitate a murder investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
The senior citizen arrived at the court complex handcuffed and under police escort from the Kota Tinggi district headquarters.
The victims, two local men and a foreign woman aged between 37 and 63, were found dead at a restaurant in Taman Kota Jaya.
Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said they were believed to have been shot with a shotgun.
Police received a report on the incident at about 1.30 pm before dispatching a team to the location.
